Tech transformations are not about the tech.

They’re about the people.

How I help organisations become simpler, better and faster through digital transformation.

Few organisations deny the need to leverage new technologies to create and sustain competitive advantage.  Over the past three decades businesses have engaged in many waves of technological change as computing capabilities have evolved to enable new capabilities – supply chain modelling and optimisation, e-commerce, enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), business intelligence (BI) and further into the era of big data and analytics, mobile and social, and cloud computing.  The nature of work has changed with increased automation, the use of robotics to drive process efficiencies, the IoT tracking devices 24/7, and the blockchain unlocking a new paradigm of decentralised contracts and crypto-assets.

As a leader, especially in technology, you have likely engaged in these initiatives and many others during your career.  I certainly have, leading many different strategic projects to help re-wire business for the digital age.  Through many successes and a fair share of failures, as both a COO and CIO, I’ve learned a lot about how to lead organisational change and technology transformations and have certainly embraced new technology and ways of working (e.g. agile) to get the job done.

As a VP of Product, and later as a CEO, I have also realised that what really matters is not the technology, of course, but what the technology enables.  Businesses want to create strategic advantage and top-line revenue growth.  They want to delight customers with relevant innovation and value, opening up new use cases, new market segments and even entirely new markets and products.  They need to digitise their products and their channels, as well as their operations, to compete effectively with agile new entrants, or to collaborate with them as part of a collective business eco-system.  Like never before, businesses need to simplify and clarify their business models enabling smarter, faster decision-making and stronger brand resonance.  Talent, today, want to work more flexibly for companies that are making the world a better place.

This then is what I try to do.  I take a strategic perspective, helping organisations accelerate marketing and sales, create engaging digital experiences, modernise core technology, harness the power of data and analytics, optimise operations and build a digital culture.
